We’re excited to share that Carol McDonald is the new chair of the Religious Institute’s Board of Directors. You can learn more about Carol and read her opening message as Board Chair below.
Happy New Year! I cannot express enough how thrilled I am to lead the Religious Institute board as its new chair. I am so inspired by the work the Religious Institute already does to promote sexual, gender, and reproductive justice. I have served on the board for 4 years now, and I am so proud of the ways that we have grown and changed. I am looking forward to seeing how that growth continues under my leadership.
I want to tell you a bit more about why I serve on this board. I consider myself a person of faith, because it is faith that compels me to do the work of fulfilling a progressive agenda and fighting for reproductive justice for all. It is no secret that the current occupant of the White House has a hate-filled agenda that is destroying institutions and causing great harm to people. Now more than ever, progressive thought leaders, organizers, and communities must be the voice of morality. This is why I am so excited to begin my work as chair. I promise to forge a path for the Religious Institute that makes our voice stronger and clearer than ever.
My hope for the Religious Institute during my tenure as board chair is to elevate our work in articulating a moral vision for progressive work and to expand our reach. By building relationships and strengthening our messaging and our narrative, we can bring the faith and progressive communities together in order to create the change we want to see in our communities, in the nation, and in the world. I cannot wait to begin my work as chair of the board of the Religious Institute, and I look forward to seeing what we can accomplish together.
