I am a planner. So, for me, the holidays are a time when I reflect on the past year and look forward to the year ahead.
As I think about 2017, I am reminded of the work of the Religious Institute: delivering your petitions to the Senate during a crucial vote on health care, lifting up your voices for LGBTQ justice on the steps of the Supreme Court, and offering a blessing at an abortion clinic in Texas. I also remember you and the thousands of people who observed a national weekend of prayer, the hundreds of students and religious leaders we’ve met in our workshops and courses, and the many faith leaders who’ve called our office hoping to create a more sexually healthy faith community.
For many of us, this has been a year of marching, speaking out, and risking arrest. It has also been a year of remembering what’s important, fighting for what matters most, and sharing our vision for a healthier, more just society.
This is what I mean when I say a prophetic resistance is awakening. This year, you and thousands of people of faith joined us not only in resisting the attacks on our rights and our communities but also in putting forth a prophetic vision for the world we hope to create.
As I think about this awakening resistance, I can confidently say that we at the Religious Institute are ready to move into 2018. We know there will be challenges, but we are ready to serve you and this movement in even smarter, more responsive ways.
I hope you will consider making a donation to the Religious Institute during this holiday season. On behalf of the Religious Institute staff and me, we wish you Happy Holidays! May they be filled with love and justice.
