In “The Family: A Proclamation to the World,” the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles proclaim that “marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God and that the family is central to the Creator’s plan for the eternal destiny of His children.” When a man and woman are married in the temple, their family can be together forever. This is a common goal of Latter-day Saints.

C. Married Persons and Sexuality
The Christian faith affirms that heterosexual marriage is the intended culmination of sexuality. Sexual intercourse, the most intimate of human relationships, belongs within heterosexual marriage. Within the covenant of lifelong fidelity, married couples learn to enjoy this full-bodied, full-spirited union. Furthermore, it is this loyal, loving partnership that is most conducive to the responsible conception of children.
What does the Assemblies of God teach concerning the biblical view of marriage?
In an age when family values are under severe attack and the traditional foundation of the family seems to be crumbling, the Assemblies of God recognizes the need for strong teaching on the biblical view of marriage and the family.
Resolved, That this 72nd General Convention recognize the importance of lifelong commitment to and fidelity in the marital relationship between husband and wife; and be it further
Resolved, That all Congregations are urged to support and develop ways to encourage and maintain healthy marriages, including marriage retreats such as Marriage Encounter, “community marriage policies” for pre-marital counseling, preaching and teaching on the standards for Christian marriage, and the development of “mentoring” relationships between older and younger married couples.
