Barring intervention by the Supreme Court, same-sex marriages will begin on Thursday, August 21 in Virginia. Local clergy are getting ready. Edited at 3:30 pm on August 20. The Supreme Court did intervene to put on hold the federal appeals court’s ruling striking down Virginia’s ban on same-sex marriage.
On July 21, President Obama signed an executive order that prohibited federal contractors from discriminating against LGBT people. The order did not contain an expanded exemption for religious groups, holding them to the same standards of equality as other contractors. Read more here.

Bisexuality: Making the Invisible Visible in Faith Communities is a call to action for faith leaders and congregations to make their faith communities “bisexually healthy” ones, where people who identify as bisexual see their experiences, gifts, and concerns reflected in worship, religious education, and congregational events.
